Heather Stafford Gay, Chair

Dunwoody College of Technology. St Louis Park, Minnesota

Heather, LEED AP BD+C, has been involved with Historic Green since she first heard of a call for Emerging Green Builders Local Leaders in 2007. She loves her husband, bicycle and dog, likes pulling weeds but dislikes mowing, and hopes to see Historic Green in cities all over the country.

Jeremy Knoll, Past Chair

BNIM, Kansas City, Missouri

Historic Green Co-Founder

Jeremy, LEED® AP, helped establish the Kansas City EGB committee in 2005 and quickly expanded his involvement as a volunteer leader with the USGBC at local, regional, and national levels, serving for 2 years on the Emerging Green Builders National Committee. Following a 2007 presentation about the struggle of community leaders to meet tough personal climate goals while rebuilding their homes, he was inspired to take action on behalf of the Lower 9th Ward. His favorite Muppets are Statler and Waldorf, though he identifies most with Kermit.

Her personal goal with Historic Green is to provide positive volunteer experiences to inspire new volunteers to become lifetime leaders in their communities. A Kansas City native, Sarah holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics from Truman State University. She was a microscopy specialist for 2 years before starting work on her Ph.D. in Physiology at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, where she studies the basic processes that cause asymmetry in cells. She received an MS in Historic Preservation from the University of Texas at Austin, and wrote her graduate thesis on the combination of historic preservation and sustainable design practices in post-Katrina New Orleans. While working on her Master’s degree, she participated in a preservation field school in New Orleans, in which she helped restore historic houses that had been damaged by Hurricane Katrina. She is very excited to be part of the Historic Green team.
