HEADQUARTERS: gather ‘round

Our base of operations during Historic Green will once again be at the Lower 9th Ward Village, located at 1001 Charbonnet Street in the Holy Cross Neighborhood. Once again, Mack McClendon and his crew will serve as our host for this 10-day event. Since its groundbreaking in September 2007, The Village has already become a functioning community space that will embrace all aspects of the burgeoning Lower Ninth Ward community.

The Village is our cultural and command center: the place for volunteers to check in every morning, where you’ll receive orientation and safety training, tools and more.

Our main classroom this year is All Souls Episcopal Church and Community Center, located at 5500 St. Claude Avenue in Holy Cross. Housed in a former Walgreens store, this church is another vital community gathering place for the recovering Lower Ninth Ward. We’re pleased to partner with All Souls as the host of several workshops during Historic Green (in addition to those held at The Village and around the neighborhood) and a special presentation by Majora Carter on Monday, March 16 at 6 p.m.
