Emerging Project Leaders Design/Build Program
Historic Green is looking for motivated volunteers to participate in an innovative pilot program as part of the 2012 Spring Greening event. The Emerging Project Leaders (EPL) Design/Build program is a semester long program which will enlist volunteers to help plan and lead a project from one of three areas of focus, Green Homes, Green Spaces, and Green Communities. As part of the program, EPLs will have the opportunity to build relationships with the residents they are working for, and learn green building and preservation techniques through close work with experts in the field.
Working in conjunction with an assigned technical adviser, our General Contractor in New Orleans, the EPL Program Coordinator and Holy Cross neighborhood residents, EPL’s will create packets outlining the purpose and process of the project for the 6-8 volunteers who will make up their project team. During the Spring Greening event, EPL’s will guide their team through project completion. The project packets they create will be added to HG’s technical resource library at the Center for Sustainable Engagement and Development (CSED) in Holy Cross, and online at historicgreen.org.
EPL’s will be responsible for their own travel expenses but will receive free event registration, a tee shirt and a plaque recognizing successful completion of the program. All skill levels are encouraged to apply.
For more information or to apply please email EPL program coordinator Lauren Drakopulos.
