ZERO CARBON NOLA: a greener new orleans

Setting an example. Rebuilding and recovery are just a beginning for this historic neighborhood in one of America’s oldest cities. Holy Cross has aims to be carbon neutral by the year 2020 and climate neutral by 2030. Nowhere else in the world, perhaps, is this more possible than the Lower Ninth Ward.

Out of the floodwaters a new, historic place is emerging: a sustainable place featuring rooftop solar panels on homes more than a century old that integrate energy-efficient heating and cooling; of rain gardens and restored playgrounds; ride-able, walkable neighborhoods with improved mass transit. And bookmarked at either end by green, affordable housing thanks to the Make It Right Foundation and Global Green’s Holy Cross Project.
